The battle to be green

The battle to be greenDid you know that fmyi has had a strong commitment to sustainability from the beginning in 2004? It's hard to be fully green, but we've introduced three new features in fmyi to make things a little easier. When you and your team sign into your site, fmyi tracks everyone's commuting. Also, go to the bottom left of any page in your site and click on the "Green Certified Site" image. fmyi is the only collaboration system that purchases renewable energy credits for you to offset the non-renewable portion of energy used by our servers and your computer. And when you print, you'll use less ink and knock out wasted pages thanks to our new print view.

Social networking
Social networkingIt's a buzzword you can't escape these days. But what does it mean for your workplace? When you use fmyi, you're using an interface that has the look and feel of popular social networking sites with profile and team pages, but with the added benefit of tools to help your team achieve its goals. And we've just launched a status update feature so you can share what you're working on, or where you are. Just click on "My profile" and then the "What are you doing now?" link.

Sichuan earthquake
Sichuan school children"fmyi helped facilitate communication and the creative design process among our diverse and very mobile design team," says Joe Marcotte, Program Manager for the China-US Center for Sustainable Development and member of a team addressing the destruction of 8,000 schools in the Sichuan earthquake in China. "With a team of architects, engineers and sustainability professionals from various organizations, it was extremely helpful to have a shared workspace accessible from anywhere. The site provides a venue for links and source documents that have been used by the team to inform their creative process. For me, it's been very convenient to share trends, policies and news items with the design team to best meet the specifications of our partners in China."

Harvest your ideas

LitLife beneficiary"fmyi keeps me up-to-date on what everyone is doing," says Jim Allyn, CEO of LitLife, a company pioneering new ideas in the teaching of reading and writing with a strong social responsibility commitment. "It's an incredible idea generation tool where we can collaborate without people needing to get together or have a meeting. My team loves how easy it is to access each other's work. I sometimes wonder what we would do without fmyi. I have developed a comfort level of outsourcing this fundamentally important aspect of our business."
